The Mateczny Spa is situated next to the Mateczny traffic circle. The location is not very well, but the spa is the separate object of peace and green with lot of bushes, flowers and trees. In 1903, according to an Austrian government decision, Cracow was made the protected region of water spring in Podgorze. Two years later Antoni Mateczny build in his own plot the general bath institute of sulfur and mineral salts water.
During German occupation the equipment of spa was totally devastated and the building was used for the factory of rubber. In 50s the spa was reactivated and became famous because of the sulfur bath, compresses, under water massage and physiotherapy. People who have rheumatism and other problems with moving or skin desists can get treatment here.
Since 1970, in the Mateczny spa, there is a bottling plant of mineral water. Krakowianka is its name. You can buy it very rarely due to the lack of demand for it! |
