The first Fabric of Enameled Dishes and Tin Products “Record” was found in 1937, in the south of Poland. It was situated on Lipowa street 4 and employed around 50 people. In November 1939 Oscar Schindler became its manager. After the War the fabric was taken over by the Polish government. Since 1948 TELPOD company has managed it. Nowadays the fabric is broke.
In September 1939 Oscar Schindler came to occupied Cracow. He was a Nazi, a member of a Hitlerite party. He took over the Record fabric and using cheap Jewish workers worked for German army. Steven Spilberg was a director of “Schindler’s List” , a movie based of the story about Oscar Schindler and his Jewish workers. After the War Schindler was honored by the distinction of Chasid Umot ha-Olam (Fair among nations of world).   |
