The park’s founder – Wojciech Bednarski, was a councilor, who was very keen on Podgorze. When this district was put into the Cracow’s border he demonstrated his dissatisfaction by walking to Cracow’s side of to the half of the bridge.
In 1897 Podgorze city called him a honorary citizen. He was dead in 1914 and burred in the Old Podgorze’s cemetery. There are more then 100 species of trees in the park. There are ashes in the Circumference Alley, maples in the Shadow Alley, poplars in the Small Promenade. Walking into the park from Parkowa street you can see the Gardner’s House. According to the legend, master of black magic – Twardowski, taught his charms there. From The Bednarski’s Park you can walk to the Cracow’s Television or the Lassota’s mound to see the Saint Benedykt’s Church and fort or visit the Old Podgorze’s cemetery. |
