This is the Word center of the cult of the God’s Mercy and Saint Faustyna. There are two churches here: the Saint Josef’s Church and the God’s Mercy Basilica. There are also a convent and the Mercy House – a kind of a hostel for girls. Next to the Basilica there is a 76 meters high tower with a viewing area where you can see the marvelous panoramic of Cracow.
In the beginning of XX century sister Helena „Faustyna” Kowalska worked in Lagiewniki. She was a mystical visionary. Jesus Christ appeared to her and they talk to each other. She wrote down their conversations in her diary.
Jesus asked her to worship first Sunday after Easter as God’s Mercy Holiday. Following sister’s Faustyna directions a painter draw “Jesus, I trust you!” painting, which is famous all over the world for its miracles.
