Royal Chambers The exhibition shows elegant royal chambers of 2nd floor of the Wawel Castle. In these rooms there were huge ceremony taking place, like royal weddings or balls. The chambers were decorated in renaissance or baroque styles. The most interesting exhibits are Gobelin tapestries of last Jagielloni. Chambers took their names from frescos which decorate them or from their functions. The ceiling in the Representative’s Chamber is unique in whole word due to the sculptures of heads on it, as kurdyban on the wall in the Under Birds Chamber. Royal Private Apartments Royal Apartments are situated on the 1st floor of the Wawel Castle. You can visit the king’s bedroom or apartments of president of Poland – Ignacy Moscicki. It’s also a possibility to stop at castle’s towers and admire Dutch paintings. This exhibition can be visit on with a guide and the entrance is daily limited. The Lost Wawel You can see here the oldest parts of Wawel Castle’s buildings and architect details from inside and outside of them. The most important is the St Mary Tempel from X century. The East in Wawel’s collection It’s an exhibition of toffees of Polish – Turkey wars. There are lot of craftsmanship, Persian carpets, fabrics and militaries. The most beautiful are Turkish tents, but you can also admire Chinese porcelain and dishes. The Vault The Polish Vault was found in 1025 by Boleslaw Chrobry – the king of Poland. However the collection hasn’t last till today due to two very serious robberies of Austrians and Germans during the World War II. For us, the most important exhibit is Szczerbiec – the coronation sword of Polish kings, but you can also see the Justice Sword of king Zygmunt or the coronation things of John III Sobieski. The Armory Thanks to Brunon Konczakowski the exhibition of the king’s armory in Wawel is one of the biggest in whole country. You can see here all types of weapon which has been used from the beginning of Poland (swords, spears, bows, crossbows, guns, rifles and cannons).There are also copies of Teutonic Knights flags from the big medieval battle in Grunwald.
