The Holy Trinity’s church had been a parish church. In 1222, when Cracow’s bishop Iwo Odrowaz move Dominican into the city, the parish was moved to the Main Market – to Saint Mary’s Church.
The church was burn almost completely in 1850 and was renovated several times. Inside doesn’t impress much due to the modest décor. However if you come closer to the altar you will see two gravestones. One is Leszek Black’s – prince of Poland and the other is Kalimach’s – the teacher’s of the King Kazimierz Jagiellonczyk’s children. The chapter of Saint Jack is worth to visit due to an unique decoration of the ceiling made by Baltazar Fontana and Karol Dankwart. The Rosary’s chapter increases connection between Cracow and the history of Poland, because there the mother and the brother of the king Jan III Sobieski were burned. Nowadays the Dominican Church is a very popular one, specially by teenagers, because there are the celebrations for them every Sunday at 7.00 p.m. |
