The museum was opened in 1978 by Karol Wojtyla few days before he became a pope. We can admire here mostly exhibits from the cathedral vault like: the Zygmunt August’s sword, which was broken after his death, the Stefan Batory’ s coffin portrait, the coronation colt of Stanislaw August Poniatowski and lot of other things compared to the Cathedral and John Paul II.
Szczególną uwagę zwraca miecz Zygmunta Augusta, według tradycji przełamany po jego śmierci, jako ostatniego z rodu, portret trumienny Stefana Batorego – najstarszy w Polsce oraz płaszcz koronacyjny Stanisława Augusta Poniatowskiego. Na ekspozycji wystawione są również najstarsze pamiątki związane z Katedrą – kielichy, ornaty i inne przedmioty o charakterze liturgicznym, a także przedmioty związane z Janem Pawłem II. |
